While hunting for his wife’s killer in China, Nathaniel Chambers receives word that his estranged brother has allegedly committed suicide in the goldrush town of Gulgong, in the Colony of New South Wales. Chambers uncovers secrets and lies deeper than the gold deposits, but Chambers does not go alone. He is taunted by his cloud of witnesses, reminding him of his curse, that he is still alive.
